A power station for refrigerator backup has one job: keep your fridge cold through a power outage, ideally without you touching anything. For most homes, the sweet spot is a 2kWh unit with an automatic (UPS) switchover. It keeps a full-size fridge running for about 15 hours on our conservative math, and close to 30 hours if your fridge is a recent, efficient model.
We compared the fridge-ready power stations from Jackery, EcoFlow, BLUETTI and Anker SOLIX that are on sale in the US right now, using each brand's spec sheet (checked September 27, 2026) and our own runtime math. BackupPowerHub doesn't run lab tests (see our editorial guidelines), so every runtime on this page is a calculation you can check. Prices update automatically from each brand's store, except where noted.
- EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max: best overall, 2,048Wh and a switchover under 10 ms.
- Anker SOLIX S2000: best fridge-first design, 2,010Wh with a very low idle draw.
- Jackery HomePower 1000 v2: best plug-and-forget fridge UPS, 1,024Wh.
- BLUETTI AC180: best budget pick, 1,152Wh for a full night.
- Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2: fastest recharge, full in 49 minutes from the wall.
- BLUETTI Elite 400: best for a fridge and a freezer, 3,840Wh on wheels.
- Jackery HomePower 3600 Plus: best for multi-day outages, up to 21.5kWh.

How Long Will a Power Station Run a Refrigerator?
It depends on two numbers: the station's usable capacity and your fridge's average draw. A compressor doesn't run all the time. It cycles on and off, so a fridge that pulls 150W while running may average only 50 to 120W over a day.
The 0.85 factor covers inverter losses: the energy spent turning battery power into 120V AC. On this page we use two reference fridges. The conservative one averages 120W, typical of an older full-size fridge, a warm kitchen or a busy household. The efficient one averages 60W, typical of a recent Energy Star model with the door mostly closed.
Find Your Fridge's Real Average Draw
Look for the yellow EnergyGuide label on the fridge, or its spec sheet. It gives the estimated yearly energy use in kWh. Divide that number by 8.76 to get the average draw in watts: a fridge rated at 500 kWh a year averages about 57W.
That is also why brand claims look so high. Anker quotes up to 35 hours for its 2kWh S2000 and Jackery up to 30 hours for its 1kWh FridgeGuard: both come from efficient fridges measured in controlled conditions, close to or below our 60W case.
Startup Surge: Why Small Units Trip
Each time the compressor starts, it draws a short spike several times its running watts. That spike, not the average, is what trips an undersized power station. Every pick below handles it, with at least 1,500W of continuous output. Note that BLUETTI's Power Lifting mode is meant for resistive loads such as kettles and heaters, so it doesn't count for a compressor start.
Runtime for Each Pick
| Model | Busy fridge (120W) | Efficient fridge (60W) | Fridge + freezer (180W) |
|---|---|---|---|
| EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max (2,048Wh) | About 15 h | About 29 h | About 9.5 h |
| Anker SOLIX S2000 (2,010Wh) | About 14 h | About 28 h | About 9.5 h |
| Jackery HomePower 1000 v2 (1,024Wh) | About 7.5 h | About 15 h | About 5 h |
| BLUETTI AC180 (1,152Wh) | About 8 h | About 16 h | About 5.5 h |
| Anker SOLIX C1000 Gen 2 (1,024Wh) | About 7.5 h | About 15 h | About 5 h |
| BLUETTI Elite 400 (3,840Wh) | About 27 h | About 54 h | About 18 h |
| Jackery HomePower 3600 Plus (3,584Wh) | About 25 h | About 51 h | About 17 h |
For comparison, FoodSafety.gov says a refrigerator keeps food safe for up to 4 hours without power if the door stays closed, and a full freezer holds a safe temperature for about 48 hours (24 hours if half full). Even the smallest pick here stretches the fridge well past that limit.

#2 Anker SOLIX S2000: Built Around the Fridge
Anker SOLIX S2000
2,010Wh · 1,500W output · Price checked Sep 27, 2026
Anker's fridge-first 2kWh unit: about 6W idle draw and 10,000 rated cycles.
The S2000 is the first power station Anker built around a single job: keeping a fridge running. It holds 2,010Wh in a box small enough for a kitchen corner (8.2 × 11.1 × 12.7 in, 35.7 lb), switches over in 10 ms and has five AC outlets front and rear. Anker says it draws about 6W at idle with the AC output on. That matters for a fridge, because the station spends most of an outage waiting between compressor cycles.
Anker quotes up to 35 hours of fridge backup, from its own tests on a 24.7 cu ft fridge in a 77°F room. Our conservative math gives about 14 hours at 120W and 28 hours at 60W, and the low idle draw should push real results toward the top of that range. The cells are rated for 10,000 cycles to 60% (6,000 cycles to 80%). The limits: 1,500W of continuous output, no extra battery, and a price our engine can't track, so check it on Anker's store.

How to Set Up a Power Station as a Fridge UPS
Plug the station into a wall outlet near the fridge and charge it to 100%.
In normal times the fridge runs from the grid through the station, and the battery stays full.
Most units switch over on their own. Some brands add a UPS or backup reserve setting in the app: make sure it is on.
Unplug the station from the wall and check that the fridge keeps running. Plug it back in when you are done.
Plug the fridge straight into the station. If you need an extension cord, use a short, heavy-duty grounded one rated for the fridge. To back up more than the fridge, such as a well pump or whole circuits, you need a transfer switch installed by a licensed electrician: see our transfer switch installation guide.
Power Station or Gas Generator for a Fridge?
Power station
- Safe indoors next to the fridge: no exhaust, no carbon monoxide
- Silent, with no fuel to store
- Takes over automatically when the grid fails
- Recharges from solar during a long outage
Gas generator
- Runs as long as you have fuel
- Lower upfront cost per watt
- Must run outdoors, away from windows
- Someone has to start it and refuel it
Many homes end up with both: a power station for instant, silent backup, and a generator to recharge it when an outage runs into days. Our generator pairing guide explains how to size the two together, and the multi-day outage planning guide covers longer events.
How We Picked
We started from every model Jackery, EcoFlow, BLUETTI and Anker SOLIX sell in the US and kept the ones that do this job best, in stock on September 27, 2026. We compared them on:
Runtime per charge
Usable capacity against a busy fridge, an efficient fridge and a fridge with a freezer.
Switchover
Whether the unit takes over automatically, and how fast, so food stays cold while you sleep or travel.
Startup surge
Enough continuous and surge output to start a compressor every time.
Recharging
Wall charging speed between outages and solar input for long ones.
Specs come from each brand's US product page. Runtimes are our calculations with the formula above, rounded to the nearest half hour under 10 hours and to the nearest hour above. Prices come from each brand's store and refresh several times a day, except the Anker SOLIX S2000, checked by hand.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best power station for refrigerator backup?
For most homes, the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max: 2,048Wh keeps a full-size fridge running for about 15 hours on our conservative math, and it switches over in under 10 ms. The Anker SOLIX S2000 is the fridge-first alternative, with a very low idle draw. For a fridge and a freezer together, the BLUETTI Elite 400 holds 3,840Wh. For outages that last several days, the Jackery HomePower 3600 Plus expands to about 21.5kWh. On a tight budget, the BLUETTI AC180 covers a night.
How long will a power station run a refrigerator?
Multiply the capacity in watt-hours by 0.85, then divide by the fridge's average draw. A busy full-size fridge averaging 120W runs about 7.5 hours on 1,024Wh, about 15 hours on 2,048Wh and about 27 hours on 3,840Wh. An efficient fridge averaging 60W runs about twice as long: roughly 15, 29 and 54 hours.
How long will a 1000Wh power station run a refrigerator?
About 7 hours for a full-size fridge averaging 120W, and about 14 hours for an efficient one averaging 60W (1,000 × 0.85 ÷ W). A compact or mini fridge averaging 30 to 40W can run about 21 to 28 hours.
What size portable power station will run a refrigerator?
For a full-size fridge through one night, get at least 1,000Wh and 1,500W of continuous output. For a full day, aim for 2,000Wh. For a fridge and a freezer, or for 24 hours and more on a busy fridge, look at 3,500Wh and up. Check your fridge's EnergyGuide label to size it precisely.
Can a portable power station run a full-size refrigerator?
Yes. A full-size fridge needs a short spike of power each time its compressor starts, and any unit with 1,500W or more of continuous output handles it. All seven picks on this page qualify. Runtime is the real limit, and it depends on capacity.
Can a power station work as a UPS for a refrigerator?
Yes, most modern units do. You plug the station into the wall and the fridge into the station. When the grid fails, the station switches to its battery automatically: in under 10 ms for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max and the Jackery HomePower models, 10 ms for the Anker S2000 and C1000 Gen 2, and 15 ms for the BLUETTI Elite 400. A fridge rides through that without restarting.
Can I run a refrigerator and a freezer on one power station?
Yes, if you size for both. Add their average draws: a busy fridge (120W) plus an upright freezer (60W) is about 180W. That gives about 18 hours on the 3,840Wh BLUETTI Elite 400 and about 17 hours on the 3,584Wh Jackery HomePower 3600 Plus, before any solar recharge.
Is it safe to run a power station indoors next to the fridge?
Yes. A battery power station has no engine and no exhaust, so it produces no carbon monoxide. Keep it on a dry, stable surface with space around its vents. A gas generator is different: it must always run outdoors, away from windows and doors.
Can I recharge the power station with solar during an outage?
Yes, all seven picks accept solar panels. Solar input ranges from 400W (Jackery HomePower 1000 v2) to 1,000W (BLUETTI Elite 400 and Jackery HomePower 3600 Plus). A few sunny hours can refill most of what a fridge used overnight.
