$300 buys a battery port and faster charging, not a longer night.

The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Ultra and the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Ultra Plus share the same 3,072Wh battery, the same 3,600W inverter, the same outlets and the same 10ms UPS. The Ultra Plus adds an extra battery port, twice the solar input, twice the generator charging speed and a 30A Anderson port. If 3kWh will stay enough and you charge mostly from the wall, the Ultra does the same job.

Below: every difference with numbers, a 20-second calculator for your own gear, six modeled situations, and what two published tests of the Ultra Plus found.

Quick answer

Same battery, same 3,600W, same outlets, same UPS. The Ultra Plus costs $300 more and buys four things: an extra battery port, 1,600W of solar, 3,200W generator charging with dual-input modes, and a 30A Anderson port.

Pick the Ultra if$1,299
  • 3,072Wh is all you’ll ever need
  • you recharge from the wall
  • you want $300 back and 2 lb less
Pick the Ultra Plus if$1,599
  • you’ll add batteries for multi-day outages
  • you’ll run more than 800W of panels
  • you charge from a generator or a vehicle

Bottom line: both run the same appliances for the same time. The Ultra Plus earns its $300 if you’ll add a battery, run more than 800W of panels, charge from a Smart Generator or an alternator, or power 12V gear through Anderson. For a fixed spot charged from the wall, the Ultra is the better value.

Runtime by appliance, one at a time

Simple energy estimates, not measured runtimes. Same 3,072Wh in both, about 2,611Wh usable, so one column serves both; StorageReview measured 2,610Wh from the Ultra Plus.

Runtime verdict

Same battery, same runtime.

The Ultra and the Ultra Plus both hold about 2,611Wh usable, so every appliance runs just as long on either one.

EcoFlow publishes no cycle count for either, so we skip the lifetime figure. On the second card, two Ultras give you two separate 3,600W stations; the Ultra Plus with an extra battery puts 7,168Wh behind one inverter, and its EcoFlow bundle with a DELTA 3 Max Plus Extra Battery is another route. EcoFlow US prices move often; the figures here are refreshed daily by our price engine.

TakeawayThe price section compares cost per Wh at today’s prices. The Ultra Plus premium is worth it only if you’ll use the expansion port or the faster charging inputs.
04 · Third option

The third option: the DELTA Pro 3 at $2,799

EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3 portable power station

EcoFlow DELTA Pro 3: $2,799 today

4,096Wh, 4,000W at 120V and 240V, 2,600W of solar, a 10ms UPS and expansion to about 12kWh with DELTA Pro 3 Extra Batteries, at 113.5 lb. OutdoorGearLab measured 3,790Wh out of it. 05 · Situations

Eight modeled situations, worked out

Same formula as the calculator above, with 0 extra batteries unless stated. The fridge averages 60W, about 525kWh a year.

24-hour outage, essentials only

Fridge + Wi-Fi router + phones and a laptop + 5 LED bulbs: about 2,190Wh a day (the calculator’s Power outage preset)
Ultra28.6 h
Ultra Plus28.6 h
Ultra Plus + 1 DELTA Pro 3 Extra Battery (sold separately)66.7 h

Identical on one battery. Only the Ultra Plus stretches to a third day with an extra battery.

Refill from solar, 1,600W of panels

Hours of full sun to refill from empty, at a realistic 70% of panel rating; the Ultra clips everything above 800W
Ultra (800W limit)5.5 h
Ultra Plus (1,600W limit)2.7 h

Twice the solar means a full refill in one good afternoon on the Plus. With 800W of panels or less, they’re identical.

A long outage with a Smart Generator

EcoFlow Smart Generator 4000, 0 to 80%
Ultra (1,600W)89 min
Ultra Plus (3,200W)53 min

The Plus cuts generator run time by about 40% per refill; EcoFlow lists 53 minutes. Add solar and it reaches 80% in 48 minutes.

Two nights in a van or RV

12V compressor fridge (45W average) + LED lights 5 h + a fan 8 h at night + phones + a laptop: about 2,305Wh a day (the calculator’s Van or RV preset)
Ultra27.2 h
Ultra Plus27.2 h

Same runtime. The Plus adds a 30A Anderson port for 12V gear and can charge from solar and an alternator at the same time, 2,600W, 0 to 80% in about an hour per EcoFlow.

Home office through an outage

Desktop PC + monitor 8 h + router and modem all day: about 1,850Wh a day (the calculator’s Home office UPS preset)
Ultra33.9 h
Ultra Plus33.9 h

A tie, including the UPS: under 10ms on both, 8.25ms measured on the Ultra Plus. The Plus’s Smart Output Priority can keep the PC outlet on while shedding others.

A well pump through an outage

1/2 hp well pump (about 1,000W running, 2,500 to 3,000W at startup) for one hour in total + fridge + lights: about 2,665Wh a day
Ultra23.5 h
Ultra Plus23.5 h

Both start it on a 7,200W surge and run it the same time. Neither delivers 240V for a 240V pump.

A full-size fridge, nothing else

Refrigerator averaging 60W, about 1.4kWh a day; startup surges are well within both inverters
Ultra43.5 h
Ultra Plus43.5 h

Same battery, same runtime. With solar during the day, either one can carry a fridge through a multi-day outage.

A 1,500W space heater on high

A typical plug-in heater at its high setting, a resistive load that X-Boost-style modes can also handle
Ultra1.7 h
Ultra Plus1.7 h

Heaters drain any portable station fast. Use the low setting, heat one small room, and treat the station as a bridge, not a heating plan.

14 · Practical limits

Practical limits before you buy

  1. The Ultra can never be expanded. No extra battery port. Buy it only if 3,072Wh will stay enough.
  2. Wall charging is the same. Both take 1,800W from a 120V outlet; the Plus’s speed gains need solar, a Smart Generator or an alternator.
  3. The Plus’s Anderson port and car socket share 378W.
  4. Expansion to about 11kWh uses DELTA Pro 3 Extra Batteries; DELTA 3 Max Plus batteries need EcoFlow’s Expansion Adapter.
  5. X-Boost is for heating loads only. Motors need the 3,600W rating and the 7,200W surge, the same on both.
  6. Neither delivers 240V.
  7. Both ship without solar or car cables.
  8. Register either one. 3 years plus 2 after app registration.
  9. Ultra, per its US documentation: No expansion: the US comparison table lists max scalability as 0 for the Ultra (11kWh for the Ultra Plus).
  10. Ultra, per its US documentation: No 12V/30A Anderson output and no Smart Output Priority; only the car cigarette outlet (126W).
  11. Ultra, per its US documentation: Solar input 800W max (Ultra Plus 1600W); wall charging 1800W, 0-80% in 1.48 hours.

Same battery, inverter, outlets and UPS. The Ultra Plus adds an extra battery port (up to about 11kWh), 1,600W of solar instead of 800W, 3,200W generator charging instead of 1,600W, dual-input charging, a 30A Anderson port and Smart Output Priority.

Can I add an extra battery to the DELTA 3 Ultra?

No. Only the Ultra Plus has an extra battery port.

How long will either run a refrigerator?

About 43 hours at a 60W average, on either. Digital Trends ran a garage freezer for nearly 48 hours on the Ultra Plus.

Which extra batteries fit the Ultra Plus?

EcoFlow lists up to two DELTA Pro 3 Extra Batteries for about 11kWh, and DELTA 3 Max Plus Extra Batteries with the Expansion Adapter.

Do they charge at the same speed?

From a wall outlet, yes: 1,800W, 0 to 80% in 89 minutes. From solar, a Smart Generator or a vehicle, the Ultra Plus is up to twice as fast.

Is the Ultra Plus worth the extra money?

Only if you’ll use what it adds: expansion, more than 800W of solar, generator or alternator charging, or an Anderson port. Otherwise the Ultra runs the same loads for the same time.

Can either power a house?

Through a manual transfer switch or an inlet box via the 30A outlet, at 120V and up to 3,600W. Neither delivers 240V.

Are they the same size?

Nearly: 72.1 lb for the Ultra and 74.3 lb for the Ultra Plus, with the same footprint and wheels.

Do reviews confirm the rated capacity?

Ultra: no independent capacity measurement we could verify. Ultra Plus: A full discharge delivered 2.61kWh from the 3,072Wh pack, about 85 percent (StorageReview). Inverter losses usually take 10 to 20% on AC, which is why our calculator uses 85% of the rating.

How loud are the Ultra and the Ultra Plus?

EcoFlow rates the Ultra at 25dB or less at 600W, measured at 1 m and the Ultra Plus at 25dB or less at 600W, measured at 1 m. Fans ramp up mostly during fast charging and near full output; capping the charging speed in the app is the easiest way to keep either quiet at night.

Do I have to register for the 5-year warranty?

Ultra: 3 years, 5 after app registration. Ultra Plus: 3 years, 5 after app registration. Where the extension depends on registration, do it in the EcoFlow app as soon as the unit arrives.

Is there an independent test of the DELTA 3 Ultra itself?

Not one we could verify as of October 30, 2026. The published tests we cite cover the Ultra Plus, which shares the Ultra’s 3,072Wh battery and 3,600W inverter; the Ultra adds no ports of its own.

Can I add an extra battery to the DELTA 3 Ultra later?

No. EcoFlow’s US comparison table lists no expansion for the Ultra. The Ultra Plus takes up to two DELTA Pro 3 Extra Batteries for about 11kWh.
