$160 buys twice the battery. The Plus buys room to grow.
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max stores 2,048Wh and delivers 2,400W; the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus stores 1,024Wh and delivers 1,800W. The Plus answers with twice the solar input, six AC outlets, 17 lb less and an extra battery port. If you want the most runtime now, the Max gets you to 2kWh in one box; if you’ll grow past 2kWh or carry it often, start with the Plus.
Below: every difference with numbers, a 20-second calculator for your own gear, six modeled situations, and what reviewers report on the Plus.
The Max costs $160 more and doubles the battery to 2,048Wh with 2,400W of output. The Plus keeps half the battery but adds expansion, 1,000W of solar, six outlets and a lighter body.
- you want 2,048Wh without buying a battery
- you run up to 2,400W at once
- you want the lowest price per Wh
- you’ll expand past 2kWh later
- you’ll use up to 1,000W of solar
- you carry it: 17 lb lighter
The five differences that decide it
The five gaps that decide the purchase, with the better spec for most buyers flagged. Both use LFP cells, switch to UPS in 10ms, have a 12V socket and carry a 5-year warranty (the Max only after app registration).

The price gap, in numbers
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max costs $160 more than the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus and adds 1,024Wh: that is $0.16 per extra Wh, against $0.70 per Wh for the Plus.
Prices refresh daily from EcoFlow US.What the $160 buys: twice the battery (2,048Wh vs 1,024Wh) and 2,400W instead of 1,800W.
DELTA 3 Max costs $229 less today.
The lifetime figure divides the price by 4,000 cycles times the capacity; EcoFlow rates the Plus at 4,000 cycles and publishes no count for the Max, so we apply the same figure. Read it as a ranking, not a bill. The second card is the real decision: if you want 2kWh, the Max gets you there in one box, with 2,400W; the Plus route leaves room for three more batteries. EcoFlow US prices move often; the figures here are refreshed daily by our price engine.
The third option: the DELTA 3 Max Plus at $1,149
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus: $1,149 today
2,048Wh, 3,000W, 1,000W of solar on two ports, a 30A Anderson port, a sub-10ms UPS that StorageReview measured at 8ms, and expansion to 10kWh, at 48.7 lb. Pick it if you want 2kWh now with room to grow. Our best EcoFlow power stations guide goes deeper. See the DELTA 3 Max Plus at EcoFlow.
Seven modeled situations, worked out
Same formula as the calculator above, with 0 extra batteries unless stated. The fridge averages 60W, about 525kWh a year.
24-hour outage, essentials only
The Max lasts twice as long out of the box. A Plus with one extra battery matches it.
CPAP, two nights
Both cover two nights; the Max covers five. The Plus is the one you’d carry to a campsite.
Breakfast during an outage
Only the Max runs both at once. On the Plus, run them one after the other.
Refill from solar, 1,000W of panels
The Plus refills in about an hour and a half; the Max needs most of a sunny day for twice the battery.
Two nights in an RV or van
The Max lasts a night and most of a day; the Plus needs recharging daily, which its 1,000W of solar makes realistic.
A space heater for an hour
Both run it; the Max runs it about twice as long. Neither is a heating solution for an outage.
A full-size fridge, nothing else
The Max keeps food cold about 14.5 h longer on one charge. With solar during the day, either one can carry a fridge through a multi-day outage.

These are EcoFlow’s figures. No independent measurement exists for the Max yet.Every figure we found, with its source
What reviewers heard: Relatively quiet like other third-generation EcoFlow units, though the fan rises with load (Root-Nation, EU unit).
What reviewers heard: Fans ran even at low loads (Trusted Reviews, UK unit); audible over a 700W vacuum, and warmer than expected on light loads (How-To Geek).
Measured by a tester Brand figure
- Cap the AC charging speed in the EcoFlow app overnight.
Cold, heat and storage: Max vs Plus
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max‘s manual gives charging from 32°F to 113°F and running from 14°F to 113°F. EcoFlow US publishes no range for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus; the regular DELTA 3 lists the same values. The Plus’s battery pack is rated IP65, the Max IP20.
Figures from the DELTA 3 Max manual; EcoFlow US publishes no ranges for the Plus.- Charge either one above freezing; in winter, bring it indoors.
- For storage, keep it between 68°F and 86°F with some charge left and top up every few months (EcoFlow US).
App, UPS and smart features
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus does more: it takes extra batteries and can signal a NAS to shut down. The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max matches it on the 10ms UPS, storm alerts and off-peak charging, and adds a physical Fast/Adjust switch.
Same app, same 10ms UPS. The gap is expansion.Green zone: a switch under about 16ms, which most desktop PCs ride through without restarting.
Can you add a battery later? The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus takes extra batteries up to about 5kWh, and T3 praised how cleanly they stack; the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max can’t be expanded.
Can it tell your computer to shut down? With EcoFlow PowerManager and a NUT server, the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus can signal a NAS to shut down; EcoFlow lists no such feature for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max.
Does it work as a UPS? Both switch to battery in 10ms. StorageReview measured just over 8ms on the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus; T3 found its fans kicking in about every minute as an always-on UPS.
Can it charge off-peak? Both can charge at off-peak rates and run the house at peak rates, from the EcoFlow app.
Does it prepare for storms? Both watch severe weather alerts and top up the battery before a storm, once you turn it on in the app.
How does the app connect? Both use the EcoFlow app over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, so you can check them from another room or away from home.
Warranty and support
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus has a 5-year warranty with nothing to do; the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max gets 3 years, plus 2 more if you register it in the EcoFlow app.
Same 5 years at best. Only the Max asks you to do something to get them.Subject to each brand’s warranty terms and eligibility.
EcoFlow rates the DELTA 3 Plus at 4,000 cycles to 80% capacity, about 11 years at one full cycle a day. It publishes no cycle count for the DELTA 3 Max and quotes about 10 years. Heat and age also wear a battery, so read any rating as a ceiling.
- If you choose the DELTA 3 Max, register it in the EcoFlow app the day it arrives: without registration, the warranty stops at 3 years.
- The DELTA 3 Plus needs no registration to get its full 5 years.
What reviewers report
We have not lab-tested these two units. Here is what 6 published reviews found, with the source, author and date for each point. Reviews of UK and EU units are flagged: those models charge from 230V outlets and have different sockets, so their charge times and outlet findings don’t carry over to US units.

Practical limits before you buy
- The Max can never be expanded. No extra battery port. Buy it only if 2,048Wh will stay enough.
- The Plus stops at 1,800W. A microwave and a coffee maker together overload it.
- The Max has one solar input, shared with car charging. 500W is the ceiling.
- X-Boost is for heating loads only. Motors need the continuous rating and the surge: 2,400 and 4,800W on the Max, 1,800 and 3,600W on the Plus.
- The Plus’s IP65 covers the battery pack only. Neither station is rainproof.
- Both ship without solar cables.
- Register the Max in the EcoFlow app for the 5-year warranty: it is 3 years out of the box, plus 2 after registration.
- Max, per its US documentation: Has an XT60 port only, so reverse charging and battery preservation modes (which need XT150 or 4+8 pin cables) are unavailable.
- Max, per its US documentation: Solar input 500W max; 0-80% in 3.43 hours on solar.
- Max, per its US documentation: Wall charging 1800W, 0-80% in 68 minutes, measured in optimal conditions with X-Stream on.
- Max, per its US documentation: Rated 2400W total AC (20A max per outlet); X-Boost supports devices up to 3400W.
- Plus, per its US documentation: AC and Smart Generator charging capped at 1500W; solar 2 x 500W (11-60V).
Frequently asked questions
Is the DELTA 3 Max just a bigger DELTA 3 Plus?
No. It doubles the battery and adds 600W of output, but drops the extra battery port, keeps one 500W solar input and has four AC outlets instead of six.
Can I add an extra battery to the DELTA 3 Max?
No. If you want expansion at this size, choose the DELTA 3 Plus or the DELTA 3 Max Plus.
How long will each run a refrigerator?
At a 60W average: about 29 hours on the Max and 14.5 hours on the Plus, or about 29 hours with one extra battery on the Plus.
Which is cheaper for 2kWh?
The DELTA 3 Max, compared with a Plus plus a DELTA 3 Extra Battery; check the live prices in the price section.
Which charges faster from solar?
The Plus: 1,000W, about 1.5 hours to full at 70% panel output, against about 5.9 hours for the Max at its 500W limit.
Can either run a microwave?
Yes, a typical 1,000 to 1,200W microwave runs on both. With a second big appliance at the same time, only the Max’s 2,400W has room.
Which is quieter?
On paper the Max: EcoFlow rates it at 25dB at 600W, the Plus at 30dB. Reviewers noted the Plus’s fans at light loads.
How much do they weigh?
44.8 lb for the Max and 27.6 lb for the Plus.
Do reviews confirm the rated capacity?
Max: no independent capacity measurement we could verify. Plus: A full discharge delivered 910Wh from the 1,024Wh pack, about 89 percent (StorageReview). Inverter losses usually take 10 to 20% on AC, which is why our calculator uses 85% of the rating.
How loud are the Max and the Plus?
EcoFlow rates the Max at 25dB or less at 600W, measured at 1 m and the Plus at under 30dB at 600W and under 40dB at 1,200W. Fans ramp up mostly during fast charging and near full output; capping the charging speed in the app is the easiest way to keep either quiet at night.
Do I have to register for the 5-year warranty?
Max: 3 years, 5 after app registration. Plus: 5 years. Where the extension depends on registration, do it in the EcoFlow app as soon as the unit arrives.
Why does the DELTA 3 Max take only 500W of solar?
It has a single XT60i input, shared with car charging, rated 500W. The Plus has two 500W XT60i ports for 1,000W, so the same panels refill it faster.
Which is the better desk UPS?
Both are rated under 10ms. StorageReview measured just over 8ms on the Plus; we found no independent measurement of the Max.
Can the Plus use batteries from an older DELTA?
Yes. EcoFlow lists DELTA 3, DELTA 2, DELTA 2 Max and DELTA Pro 3 extra batteries as compatible with the Plus. The Max takes none.
