Buy the Plus for its ports, not for its battery. The battery is the same.

$240 separates the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic from the DELTA 3 Plus, and it buys a second solar port, seven more outputs and the right to add batteries later. For a CPAP, a laptop or a short outage, the Classic does the exact same job tonight.

Below: every difference with numbers, a 20-second calculator for your own gear, six modeled situations, and what reviewers and early owners report.

Quick answer

Same battery, same 1,800W inverter. The Plus costs $240 more and buys three things: twice the solar input, seven more outputs and battery expansion.

Pick the Classic if$479
  • your panels add up to 500W or less
  • three AC outlets cover what you plug in
  • you want it now, and $240 back in your pocket
Pick the Plus if$719
  • you will run more than 500W of solar (it takes 1,000W)
  • you need six AC outlets or a 12V car socket
  • you may add batteries later, up to 5kWh

Need the ports and expansion, not the 1,000W of solar? The regular DELTA 3 at $579 sits between them.Section 04
Bottom line: if your panels add up to 500W or less and three outlets are enough, the Classic gives you the same battery and inverter for $240 less. The Plus earns its premium only if you’ll use its extra solar input, its extra ports, or its expansion port. And before you decide, read the next box: there is a third DELTA 3 between them.

TakeawayThe Plus premium mainly buys 1,000W of solar input, more AC and DC connections, and battery expansion. It also adds smaller advantages in surge rating and UPS connectivity, and a published 4,000-cycle rating. The battery and the inverter are identical.

Estimates use 85% usable capacity and 70% of rated solar output. Real results vary with temperature, inverter load, shade and appliance cycling. Fridge and freezer watts are daily averages and do not include compressor startup surges.

Runtime by appliance, one at a time

Simple energy estimates, not measured runtimes. Same capacity in both, so one column serves the Classic and the Plus.

Runtime verdict

Same battery, same runtime.

The Classic and the Plus both hold about 870Wh usable, so every appliance runs just as long on either one.

Need longer? Only the Plus takes extra batteries, up to 5,120Wh with 4 extra batteries. The Classic stays at 1,024Wh.
Runtime = 1,024Wh × 0.85 ÷ watts, for that appliance alone. Actual runtime varies with compressor cycling, room temperature and inverter losses; low-power AC devices run shorter than shown because the inverter draws power while it is on. The extra battery is sold separately and fits the Plus only.

2 x Classic costs $150 less today.

EcoFlow US doesn’t publish a cycle rating for the Classic, so we skip the price-per-cycle card. Two Classics give you 2,048Wh and two separate 1,800W inverters; the price section compares that route with a Plus and an extra battery. The catch: two boxes, two chargers, and no shared battery, so you can’t pool their capacity on one appliance.

TakeawayCompare the price per Wh above. The Plus premium pays for connectivity and expansion rather than additional base capacity.
04 · Third option

The third option: the plain DELTA 3 at $579

EcoFlow DELTA 3 portable power station

EcoFlow DELTA 3: $579 today

According to its user manual (model EF-DL-H10-3), the DELTA 3 has the same 6 AC outlets, 12V car socket, extra battery port and 4,000-cycle rating as the Plus. What it lacks is the Plus’s second solar port: it tops out at 500W of solar, like the Classic. If you want expansion and the full set of ports but will never run more than 500W of panels, it sits $100 above the Classic. It is also $140 below the Plus. Our DELTA 3 review and DELTA 3 vs DELTA 3 Plus go deeper. See the DELTA 3 at EcoFlow.

05 · Situations

Six modeled situations, worked out

Same formula as the calculator above, with 0 extra batteries unless stated. The fridge averages 60W, about 525kWh a year, in the range printed on typical EnergyGuide labels; that average does not include compressor startup surges.

24-hour outage, essentials only

Fridge + Wi-Fi router + phones and a laptop + 5 LED bulbs: about 2,190Wh a day (the calculator’s Power outage preset)
Classic9.5 h
Plus9.5 h
Plus + 1 extra battery (sold separately)19.1 h

Neither unit covers a full day alone. Only the Plus can be extended to get through the night.

CPAP, two nights

CPAP without humidifier, 40W × 8 hours × 2 nights: 640Wh
Classic2.7 nights
Plus2.7 nights

A tie. The Classic does this job as well. With the humidifier on, count roughly half the nights.

Weekend off-grid with 400W of panels

5 sun hours at a realistic 70% of panel rating: about 1,400Wh harvested per day
Classic (500W limit)1,400 Wh/day
Plus (1,000W limit)1,400 Wh/day

Identical. With 500W of panels or less, the Plus’s second solar port does nothing for you.

Weekend off-grid with 800W of panels

Same sun, but the Classic clips everything above 500W
Classic (500W limit)1,750 Wh/day
Plus (1,000W limit)2,800 Wh/day

This is where the Plus pulls ahead: it banks 60% more energy from the same roof or campsite.

Two nights in an RV or van

12V compressor fridge (45W average) + LED lights 5 h + a fan 8 h at night + phones + a laptop: about 2,305Wh a day (the calculator’s Van or RV preset)
Classic9.1 h
Plus9.1 h

Same capacity, but not the same wiring. The Plus runs the fridge straight from its 12V socket. The Classic has no 12V output, so the fridge needs its AC brick, which adds a conversion step. With 400W of panels on the roof, both refill about 1,400Wh of it by evening.

A day on a job site

Circular saw 1,400W for 15 minutes of cutting + two tool battery chargers 60W × 3 h + radio: about 790Wh (the calculator’s Job site preset)
Classic1.1 days
Plus1.1 days

Both last the day. The difference is the saw’s startup spike: the Plus is rated for 3,600W of surge, the Classic for 3,000W per its manual. A 15-amp saw usually starts under either, but the Plus has more margin.

Both: wall and solar together, solar takes priorityBoth: charging speed limiter in the app

Our solar times assume panels deliver 70% of their rating, which is typical on a clear day. EcoFlow’s own figures assume ideal sun. Generator times are EcoFlow’s input ratings applied to 1,024Wh.

TakeawayOn a wall outlet they’re within minutes of each other. Solar is where the Plus halves the wait, and only if you own 1,000W of panels.

Noise and heat: Classic vs Plus

Noise verdict

Same rating on paper: EcoFlow puts both at 30dB or less at 600W. Reviewers found the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic quiet at light loads, while two heard the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus‘s fans run with little or nothing plugged in.

Fan behavior on the Plus seems to vary by unit and firmware; one owner says noise was never an issue.

Can you add a battery later? The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus takes DELTA 3, DELTA 2, DELTA 2 Max or DELTA Pro 3 extra batteries, up to about 5kWh; the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic can never be expanded.

Can it tell a PC or NAS to shut down? The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus adds HID over USB, so a computer or NAS sees it as a UPS and shuts down cleanly, set up with PowerManager and NUT; EcoFlow lists no such link for the Classic.

Can it charge off-peak? EcoFlow lists time-of-use scheduling on the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus only: it charges at off-peak rates and runs what is plugged into the station, not your house circuits. Both offer scheduled charging.

Does it work as a UPS? Both switch to battery within 10ms when the wall drops, which covers PCs, routers, modems and NAS boxes. Neither cleans up voltage dips the way an online UPS does.

Does it prepare for storms? Both have Storm Guard, which starts a charge when a weather alert hits your area; it needs Wi-Fi.

Can it run a heater or kettle above its rating? Both run resistive loads past the rating with X-Boost: up to 2,600W on the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic, 2,200W on the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus.

Build and daily use

  • PlusReviewer Praised: the sliding flap over the inputs and extra batteries that stack cleanly on top. T3, January 2025
  • ClassicReviewer Clean seams, sturdy handles, a rear flap that feels solid but a little delicate. Missed: no 12V output and no solar cable in the box. Basic Tutorials, March 2026
TakeawayFan behavior is the concern mentioned by more than one Plus reviewer; other reported problems come from individual accounts. The Classic is too new for long-term reports.

Practical limits before you buy

  1. The Classic can never be expanded. It has no extra battery port. Its Best Buy listing states it is not compatible with DELTA 2 or DELTA 3 Extra Batteries. Buy it only if 1,024Wh will stay enough.
  2. The Classic has a single input for solar and car. One XT60i port handles both, so you can’t charge from panels and your car at the same time.
  3. No 12V outlet on the Classic. A 12V cooler or fridge has to run through the AC inverter and its brick, which wastes some energy and keeps the inverter awake.
  4. The surge rating depends on where you read it. The Classic’s manual says 3,000W surge; EcoFlow’s product page says 3,600W. Plan on 3,000W for motor startups.
  5. The base DELTA 3 Plus was on pre-order on our October 29, 2026 check. On October 30, 2026, EcoFlow US listed it as shipping in late November, while the Classic ships now. Bundles with a solar panel or an extra battery had different dates.
  6. Both work as standby UPS units (EcoFlow’s manual describes the Classic this way). They switch to battery within 10ms when the grid drops, which suits PCs, routers and NAS boxes. They don’t clean up voltage dips the way an online UPS does.
  7. The DELTA 3 Plus’s AC outlets are rotated so bulky plugs don’t block each other. The Classic’s three outlets sit in a row.
  8. Register the Classic. Its 5-year warranty is 3 years out of the box plus 2 years after registration in the app.
15 · FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I add an extra battery to the DELTA 3 Classic?

No. The Classic has no expansion port, and EcoFlow lists it as not compatible with DELTA 2 or DELTA 3 Extra Batteries. If you want more capacity later, choose the DELTA 3 or the DELTA 3 Plus.

Is the DELTA 3 Plus worth the extra money?

Only if you’ll use what it adds: solar above 500W, more than 3 AC outlets, a 12V socket, or extra batteries. For a CPAP, a laptop or short outages, the Classic does the same job. And if you want the ports and the expansion without the 1,000W solar, the plain DELTA 3 is another option; the price section has today’s prices.

How long will a DELTA 3 Classic or DELTA 3 Plus run a refrigerator?

Using a 60W average draw and an estimated 870Wh of usable capacity, either base unit provides about 15 hours. Actual runtime varies with the refrigerator, room temperature, compressor cycling and inverter losses. Both have 1,800W of output, far more than a fridge needs once running.

Which extra batteries work with the DELTA 3 Plus?

EcoFlow lists the DELTA 3, DELTA 2, DELTA 2 Max and DELTA Pro 3 Extra Batteries, for up to about 5kWh in total. Some of them need the XT150 cable sold with the Alternator Charger.

Are they the same size?

Practically. The Classic measures 15.6 x 7.8 x 11.2 inches and the Plus 16 x 8.0 x 11 inches, per their manuals. The Plus weighs 1 lb more (27.6 lb against 26.6 lb).

Can I charge them below freezing?

No. Charging is allowed from 32°F up. Discharging works down to 14°F. In winter, charge indoors.

Will third-party solar panels work?

Yes on both, through the XT60i input: 11 to 60V and up to 15A per port. Stay under 60V open-circuit voltage when you wire panels in series. The Classic takes one panel string, the Plus takes two.
