Half a kilowatt-hour more for 8.4 lb, in a box the same size. The catch is finding one.
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 stores 1,024Wh, the EcoFlow DELTA 3 1500 stores 1,536Wh, and both deliver 1,800W from six AC outlets in nearly the same 15.7-inch case. The 1500 is 50 percent more runtime for 36 lb instead of 27.6 lb, but it switches to battery in 15ms instead of 10ms and is rated for 3,000 cycles to 70 percent instead of 4,000 to 80. In the US, EcoFlow sells the 1500 only as a solar kit, sold out when we checked; if you need more than 1kWh today, the DELTA 3 with an extra battery or the DELTA 3 Max is what you can actually buy.
Below: what the extra 512Wh changes with numbers, a 20-second calculator for your own gear, eight modeled situations, a third option, and what published tests found on each.
Same inverter, same six outlets, same 500W solar input. The DELTA 3 1500 adds 512Wh, 50 percent more runtime, for 8.4 lb more. The DELTA 3 has the faster 10ms UPS, the higher cycle rating and the stronger IP65 battery rating, and it is the one EcoFlow US sells on its own today.
- you protect a PC: 10ms
- you carry it: 27.6 lb
- you want 4,000 cycles to 80%
- you want 1,536Wh in one box
- a CPAP with humidifier must last two nights
- you charge a lot over USB-A
The five differences that decide it
Both use LFP cells, deliver 1,800W with a 3,600W surge and 2,200W of X-Boost, have six AC outlets, a 126W car socket and two DC barrels, take 500W of solar on one XT60i port and charge at 1,500W from the wall. These five gaps decide the purchase.
Will it run your setup? Check in 20 seconds
Estimates use 85% usable capacity and 70% of rated solar output. Real results vary with temperature, inverter load, shade and appliance cycling. Fridge and freezer watts are daily averages and do not include compressor startup surges.
Runtime by appliance, one at a time
Simple energy estimates, not measured runtimes. About 870Wh usable on the DELTA 3 and 1,306Wh on the DELTA 3 1500; OutdoorGearLab measured 870Wh from the DELTA 3, and mybest 1,310Wh from a Japanese 1500.
Appliance for appliance, the DELTA 3 1500 lasts 50% longer than the DELTA 3.

What it costs to get past 1kWh today
Both routes on the second card go past the 1500’s 1,536Wh. The DELTA 3 plus an extra battery keeps six outlets and lets you buy the battery later; the Max puts 2,048Wh and 2,400W in one box but has four outlets and no battery port. EcoFlow US prices move often; these figures are refreshed daily.
The third option: the DELTA 3 Max at $879
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max: $879 today
If you wanted the 1500 for one bigger battery in one box, the DELTA 3 Max is the answer: 2,048Wh, 2,400W with a 4,800W surge, a 10ms UPS and the same 500W solar input, at 44.8 lb. It has four AC outlets instead of six and cannot take an extra battery. Our DELTA 3 Max review goes deeper. See the DELTA 3 Max at EcoFlow.
Eight modeled situations, worked out
Same formula as the calculator above, with 0 extra batteries. The fridge averages 60W, about 525kWh a year, in the range printed on typical EnergyGuide labels; that average does not include compressor startup surges.
24-hour outage, essentials only
The DELTA 3 gets you through an evening; the 1500 through the evening and most of the night. Neither covers a full day alone; one DELTA 3 Extra Battery on either one does.
CPAP with humidifier, two nights
Only the 1500 covers two full nights out of the box. The DELTA 3 covers one night and part of the second; without the humidifier (40W) it covers about 2.7 nights.
A desktop PC through a grid drop
Many desktop power supplies ride through roughly 16ms. The DELTA 3’s 10ms leaves margin; the 1500’s 15ms leaves almost none, so a PC may reboot. For appliances, lights and routers, both are fine.
Refill from solar, 500W of panels
Same 500W limit, so the 1500 needs about 1.5 hours more sun. EcoFlow quotes 3.5 hours for the 1500 in ideal conditions.
Two nights in a van
Both run the 12V fridge from their car socket. The 1500 lasts about 4.5 hours longer; with an 800W Alternator Charger, either refills while you drive.
Home office through an outage
The 1500 runs the office about 5.5 hours longer, but the DELTA 3’s 10ms switchover is the safer one for the desktop PC.
A full-size fridge, nothing else
The 1500 keeps food cold about 7 hours longer on one charge, close to a full day. With solar during the day, either can carry a fridge through a multi-day outage.
A 1,500W space heater on high
Heaters drain any portable station fast. Use the low setting, heat one small room, and treat the station as a bridge, not a heating plan.

- For storage, keep it between 68°F and 86°F with some charge left, and cycle it every three months.
App, UPS and smart features
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 is the better UPS, at 10ms. The EcoFlow DELTA 3 1500 matches it on expansion, generator charging and the app.
Same EcoFlow app over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The gap is switchover speed.Green zone: a switch under about 16ms, which most desktop PCs ride through without restarting.
Does it prepare for storms? EcoFlow lists a storm warning feature for the EcoFlow DELTA 3; none is listed for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 1500.
Does it work as a UPS? The EcoFlow DELTA 3 switches in 10ms, comfortably under the roughly 16ms a desktop PC power supply rides through. The EcoFlow DELTA 3 1500 takes 15ms, which leaves almost no margin for a PC.
Can you add a battery later? Both take one DELTA 3, DELTA 2, DELTA 2 Max or DELTA Pro 3 Extra Battery.
Does it work with EcoFlow’s Smart Generator? EcoFlow’s US pages list the Smart Generator 3000 for both; for the 1500 it says the generator tops the battery up automatically.
How does the app connect? Both use the EcoFlow app over Wi-Fi or locally over Bluetooth, with adjustable AC charging speed and charge limits.
Warranty and support
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 and the EcoFlow DELTA 3 1500 both get 5 years from EcoFlow US with nothing to register. The DELTA 3 carries the higher cycle rating.
Same term; the gap is the rated cycle life.Subject to each brand’s warranty terms and eligibility.
EcoFlow rates the DELTA 3 at 4,000 cycles to 80% capacity, about 11 years at one full cycle a day, and the DELTA 3 1500 at 3,000 cycles to 70%, about 8 years. Heat and age also wear a battery, so read any rating as a ceiling.
- Neither needs registration for its 5 years.
- The 1500’s manual voids coverage if it sits more than six months without a charge and discharge: cycle it every three months in storage.
What owners and reviewers report
We have not lab-tested these two units. Here is what 3 published reviews found, with the source, author and date for each point. Reviews of UK and EU units are flagged: those models charge from 230V outlets and have different sockets, so their charge times and outlet findings don’t carry over to US units.
