DELTA 3 Max
- everything you run at once stays under 2,400W
- your solar setup will stay at 500W or less
- 2,048Wh will stay enough for you, since it can’t take extra batteries

DELTA 3 Max Plus
- you run loads between 2,400 and 3,000W (6,000W surge)
- you’ll charge from 1,000W of panels, a generator or an alternator
- you may want more capacity later (up to 10kWh)

$270 buys you a well pump, not a longer night.
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max and the DELTA 3 Max Plus carry the same 2,048Wh and run a fridge, a router and lights for the same 19 hours. The Max Plus earns its premium only when you push past 2,400W, past 500W of panels, or past one battery. If none of that is you, buy the Max and keep the cash.
Below: every difference with numbers, a 20-second calculator for your own gear, six modeled situations, and what four published tests of the Max Plus found.
Same battery, same outlets, same noise rating. The Max Plus costs $270 more and buys four things: 3,000W of output, 1,000W of solar, an XT150 port for generators and alternators, and battery expansion.
- nothing you plug in together exceeds 2,400W
- your panels add up to 500W or less
- you want the lighter unit, and $270 back in your pocket
- you need 3,000W for a well pump, a big AC unit or two heaters
- you will run more than 500W of solar, or charge from a generator
- you may add batteries later, up to 10kWh
The five differences that decide it
The five gaps that decide the purchase, with the better spec for most buyers flagged. Nine smaller differences and the full spec sheet come after the calculator. The 2,048Wh battery, the four AC outlets, the 10ms UPS and the 25dB rating are identical.

Estimates use 85% usable capacity and 70% of rated solar output. Real results vary with temperature, inverter load, shade and appliance cycling. Fridge and freezer watts are daily averages and do not include compressor startup surges.
Runtime by appliance, one at a time
Simple energy estimates, not measured runtimes. Same capacity in both, so one column serves the Max and the Max Plus.
Same battery, same runtime.
The Max and the Max Plus both hold about 1,741Wh usable, so every appliance runs just as long on either one.Get our Black Friday alerts for EcoFlow

The price gap, in numbers
Same 2,048Wh battery: the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max costs $270 less than the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus.
Prices refresh daily from EcoFlow US.2 x Max costs $250 less today.
EcoFlow US doesn’t publish a cycle rating for either unit, so there’s no lifetime cost to compare. Two notes. First, two Max units are an alternative to a Max Plus with its extra battery: they give you two separate 2,400W inverters in two rooms, and the cards above show both at today’s prices. Second, the pair cannot pool their capacity on one appliance, and neither can feed a 3,000W load.
The third option: the DELTA 2 Max at $1,029
EcoFlow DELTA 2 Max: $1,029 today
The previous generation. Same 2,048Wh, same 2,400W output and 3,400W X-Boost as the DELTA 3 Max, but with six AC outlets, 1,000W of solar input and an extra battery port that takes up to two DELTA 2 Max Smart Extra Batteries, for 6,144Wh. What it lacks is the DELTA 3 generation’s lighter build (EcoFlow says the DELTA 3 Max is 13% lighter) and the Max Plus’s 3,000W and XT150 charging. If you want expansion and 1,000W of solar but never more than 2,400W, it sits $150 above the Max. It is also $120 below the Max Plus. DELTA 3 Max vs DELTA 2 Max and our DELTA 2 Max review go deeper. See the DELTA 2 Max at EcoFlow.
Six modeled situations, worked out
Same formula as the calculator above, with 0 extra batteries unless stated. The fridge averages 60W, about 525kWh a year, in the range printed on typical EnergyGuide labels; that average does not include compressor startup surges.
24-hour outage, essentials only
Neither unit covers a full day alone, but both get you through the night. Only the Max Plus can be extended to cover the second day.
CPAP, two nights
A tie, and both are oversized for this job. A 1kWh unit does it for half the price; see our DELTA 3 Classic vs DELTA 3 Plus duel.
Weekend off-grid with 400W of panels
Identical. With 500W of panels or less, the Max Plus’s second solar port does nothing for you, and neither unit refills in a day.
Weekend off-grid with 800W of panels
This is where the Max Plus pulls ahead: it banks 60% more energy from the same roof or campsite, and gets close to a full refill in a day.
Two nights in an RV or van
Same capacity, same 12V socket for the fridge. The Max Plus adds a 30A Anderson port for a diesel heater or a bigger DC load, and charges from the alternator at 800W instead of 500W while you drive.
A well pump through an outage
Both run it: the pump’s startup sits under both surge ratings (4,800W on the Max, 6,000W on the Max Plus). Move to a 1 hp pump that starts near 5,000W, or add a 1,500W heater on top, and only the Max Plus has the margin.
Nine more differences, the spec sheet and the box
Smaller gaps that rarely decide the purchase, then the full specifications and what ships in the box.

07 · ChargingHow fast each one refills
Shorter bar, faster refill. Each row is scaled to its slower unit.
Both: wall and solar together, solar takes priorityBoth: Fast/Adjust switch at the AC input, finer limit in the app
Our solar and car times assume panels deliver 70% of their rating and the chargers run at their rated watts; EcoFlow’s own figures assume ideal conditions. A UK reviewer saw the Max Plus throttle to about 1,200W after heavy use until it cooled.
Every port, side by side
DELTA 3 Max
DELTA 3 Max Plus
Practical consequence: on both, four outlets at 20A each cover a kitchen counter. The Max Plus’s Anderson port runs a 12V fridge, a diesel heater or a DC distribution panel without touching the inverter, and its XT150 port is the only way to charge faster than the wall outlet allows.
09 · NoiseNoise and heat: Max vs Max Plus
EcoFlow rates the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max and the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus the same: 25dB or less at 600W, at 1 m. Reviewers found the Max Plus quiet, reaching the low 40s dB under heavy loads.
We found no independent measurement of the Max. Both share the fan layout and the 1,800W charger.Every figure we found, with its source
What reviewers heard: Fans rarely ran, even during a brief spike past 3,000W, and came on now and again during charging (T3); barely above room noise at 1 m while charging at full power (The Technology Man, UK unit).
Measured by a tester Brand figure
- Cap the AC charging speed with the Fast/Adjust switch or the app overnight: a slower charge runs cooler and quieter.
Cold, heat and storage: Max vs Max Plus
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max and the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus share the same limits: charging from 32°F to 113°F, running from 14°F to 113°F. Both are IP20 indoor units.
Figures from the DELTA 3 Max manual (EF-DL-H02-3M) and the DELTA 3 Max Plus manual (EF-DL3-MP).- In winter, bring either one inside to charge: neither charges below 32°F.
- For storage, keep it between 68°F and 86°F with some charge left, and run a charge and discharge every three months (both manuals).
App, UPS and smart features
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus does more: it takes extra batteries, splits its outlets with Smart Output Priority and tells a PC to shut down over USB-C. The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max matches it on UPS, Storm Guard and off-peak charging.
Same app, same modes in both manuals, same 10ms UPS.Green zone: a switch under about 16ms, which most desktop PCs ride through without restarting.
Can you add a battery later? The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max has no extra battery port; the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus takes one extra battery directly for 4kWh, and two with the Expansion Adapter, listed as coming soon on October 30, 2026.
Can it tell a PC to shut down? The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus shows up as a UPS over its 140W USB-C port, so a computer or NAS can shut down cleanly through EcoFlow PowerManager; EcoFlow lists no such link for the Max. One reviewer still advises against relying on it as a NAS’s only protection.
Can it keep some outlets on and shed others? On the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus, AC1 can stay on for a fridge while AC2 switches off at a battery level you set; the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max controls its four outlets as one group.
Does it work as a UPS? Both switch to battery within 10ms, enough for PCs, routers, modems and NAS boxes; two reviewers measured 7.9 and 8.4ms on the Max Plus.
Does it prepare for storms? Both charge to 100% and hold it when a weather alert hits your area, over Wi-Fi.
Can it charge off-peak? Both charge during off-peak hours and run what is plugged into them; neither feeds your house circuits.
How does the app connect? Both use the EcoFlow app over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. One UK reviewer found it lacking usage history and solar analytics.
Warranty and support
Same deal on both: the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max and the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus get 3 years, plus 2 more once registered in the EcoFlow app.
Register either one the day it arrives, or the warranty stops at 3 years.Subject to each brand’s warranty terms and eligibility.
EcoFlow US doesn’t publish a cycle rating for either unit; its US pages estimate their LFP cells at about 10 years of use. Calendar aging and heat also reduce capacity.
- Register either one in the EcoFlow app the day it arrives: without registration, the warranty stops at 3 years.

Output and UPS
- Max PlusReviewer Held 3,000W for an extended period and tripped around 3,800W; about 1,740Wh of AC output from the 2,048Wh battery; UPS switchover about 7.9ms. AndroidGuys, February 2026
- Max PlusReviewer A 2,600W kettle ran; a 3,600W heater load ran about a minute, then shut down; 1,898Wh delivered at a 2kW load; switchover 8.4ms on an oscilloscope. The Technology Man, January 2026
- Max PlusReviewer Output efficiency around 87% from 200W to 3,000W; round trip 80%. Trusted Reviews, David Ludlow
Daily use
- Max PlusReviewer Praised Smart Output Priority; the casing feels plasticky but solid; no USB on/off button, unlike the DELTA 3 Plus. T3, January 2026
- Max PlusReviewer The app lacks usage history and solar analytics; firmware updates have introduced bugs per community reports; treat the built-in UPS as a convenience, not as protection for a NAS. AndroidGuys, February 2026
- Max PlusReviewer The Anderson connector is non-standard and no adapter is included; the two 45W USB-C ports are weak for laptops. The Technology Man, January 2026
Practical limits before you buy
- The Max can never be expanded. It has no extra battery port. Buy it only if 2,048Wh will stay enough.
- The Max has a single input for solar and car. One XT60i port handles both, so you can’t charge from panels and your car at the same time, and its 500W Alternator Charger uses the same port.
- X-Boost is for heating loads only. The Max’s 3,400W and the Max Plus’s 3,800W apply to kettles, heaters and hair dryers. Motors, compressors and pumps need the continuous rating and the surge: 2,400 and 4,800W on the Max, 3,000 and 6,000W on the Max Plus.
- The Max Plus’s 10kWh needs an adapter EcoFlow had not shipped on October 30, 2026. One extra battery plugs in directly for 4kWh; two need the Smart Extra Battery Expansion Adapter, which EcoFlow’s page lists as coming soon.
- The Max Plus’s Anderson port and car socket share 378W. Run a 30A load on the Anderson port and the socket has nothing left; the connector is also non-standard, with no adapter in the box.
- Fast DC charging costs extra. The Max Plus’s 43-minute figure needs the Smart Generator 4000, and its alternator charging needs the 800W Alternator Charger plus an adapter; the 1,000W Alternator Charger Plus was not on sale on October 30, 2026.
- Both are indoor units. IP20, no water or dust rating, no built-in light. Keep them under cover when camping.
- Register either one. The 5-year warranty is 3 years out of the box plus 2 years after registration in the app.
Frequently asked questions
Can I add an extra battery to the DELTA 3 Max?
No. The DELTA 3 Max has no extra battery port. If you want more capacity later, choose the DELTA 3 Max Plus, which takes DELTA 3 Max Plus, DELTA Pro 3 or DELTA 3 Smart Extra Batteries, or the older DELTA 2 Max, which takes up to two DELTA 2 Max batteries.
Is the DELTA 3 Max Plus worth the extra money?
Only if you’ll use what it adds: loads above 2,400W, solar above 500W, generator or alternator charging through XT150, a 30A DC port, or extra batteries. For a fridge, a CPAP, a router and lights, the Max does the same job and weighs 4 lb less.
How long will a DELTA 3 Max or DELTA 3 Max Plus run a refrigerator?
Using a 60W average draw and an estimated 1,741Wh of usable capacity, either base unit provides about 29 hours. Actual runtime varies with the refrigerator, room temperature, compressor cycling and inverter losses. Both have far more output than a fridge needs once running.
Can the DELTA 3 Max run a 3,000W load?
Not continuously. Its inverter is rated at 2,400W with a 4,800W surge; X-Boost lets heating appliances draw up to 3,400W, but it does not apply to motors. For a steady 3,000W, pick the Max Plus.
Which extra batteries work with the DELTA 3 Max Plus?
EcoFlow lists the DELTA 3 Max Plus Smart Extra Battery (2,048Wh), the DELTA Pro 3 Smart Extra Battery (4,096Wh) and the DELTA 3 Smart Extra Battery (1,024Wh); the Max Plus manual also lists the DELTA 2 Max Smart Extra Battery. One battery connects directly; two need the Expansion Adapter, up to about 10kWh in total.
Are they the same size?
Practically. The Max measures 19.4 × 9.4 × 12.0 inches and the Max Plus 19.4 × 9.5 × 12.0 inches, per their manuals. The Max Plus weighs 4 lb more (48.7 lb against 44.8 lb).
Can I charge them below freezing?
No. Charging is allowed from 32°F up on both. Discharging works down to 14°F. In winter, charge indoors.
Will third-party solar panels work?
Yes on both, through the XT60i input: 11 to 60V, up to 13A on the Max and 18A on the Max Plus. Stay under 60V open-circuit voltage when you wire panels in series. The Max takes one panel string, the Max Plus takes two.
