Same kilowatt-hour, opposite jobs: one runs the kitchen, the other keeps the router alive.
The EcoFlow DELTA 2 stores 1,024Wh and delivers 1,800W from six AC outlets, with a 12V socket and a port for one extra battery. The EcoFlow DELTA 3 1000 Air stores 960Wh but stops at 500W from a single outlet; in exchange it weighs 22 lb instead of 27 and switches to battery in 10ms instead of about 30ms. EcoFlow US sells neither anymore: its DELTA 2 page now leads to the DELTA 3, its 1000 Air page to the DELTA 3 Classic.
Below: the five differences with numbers, a 20-second calculator for your own gear, eight modeled situations, what each replacement costs today, and what published tests found.
If you own one, keep it for what it does well: the DELTA 2 for big loads and many plugs, the 1000 Air as a small, fast UPS. If you’re buying today, neither is sold by EcoFlow US: the DELTA 3 replaces the DELTA 2 and the DELTA 3 Classic replaces the 1000 Air.
- you run kitchen or heating loads
- you plug in more than one device
- you’ll add one extra battery
- you protect a PC or router: 10ms
- you carry it often: 22 lb
- you want a quiet rating: under 39dB
The five differences that decide it
Both store about 1kWh of LFP, take 500W of solar and work with the EcoFlow app over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and neither is sold by EcoFlow US anymore. These five gaps decide which one suits you.
Will it run your setup? Check in 20 seconds
Estimates use 85% usable capacity and 70% of rated solar output. Real results vary with temperature, inverter load, shade and appliance cycling. Fridge and freezer watts are daily averages and do not include compressor startup surges.
Runtime by appliance, one at a time
Simple energy estimates, not measured runtimes: about 870Wh usable on the DELTA 2 and 816Wh on the 1000 Air. StorageReview measured 850Wh from the DELTA 2 at a 270W load. A load above 500W does not run on the Air at all.
Appliance for appliance, the DELTA 2 lasts 7% longer than the 1000 Air.
Same appliance, same watts: the gap is always the size of the battery.Get our Black Friday alerts for EcoFlow

What their replacements cost today
EcoFlow US sends DELTA 2 shoppers to the DELTA 3, which keeps six outlets, the 12V socket and a battery port, and 1000 Air shoppers to the DELTA 3 Classic, which keeps the 10ms UPS and adds 1,800W. Both replacements switch in 10ms.
Eight modeled situations, worked out
Same formula as the calculator above, with no extra battery. The fridge averages 60W, about 525kWh a year.
24-hour outage, essentials only
Nearly the same: an evening and part of the night. Only the DELTA 2 can be extended, with one extra battery; the Air needs a power strip for these plugs.
CPAP, every night
Both carry a CPAP for more than two nights. If it stays plugged in through the unit, the Air’s 10ms switchover is the safer one.
A microwave during an outage
The DELTA 2 runs it. 1,100W is more than twice the Air’s 500W rating, and X-Boost only helps heating elements.
Six plugs at once
The DELTA 2 takes all six plugs. On the Air, a power strip works only if the total stays under 500W.
A 12V fridge in a van
Only the DELTA 2 runs a 12V fridge directly. On the Air you’d need the fridge’s AC adapter, which wastes energy through the inverter.
A desktop PC through a grid drop
About 30ms is longer than many desktop power supplies ride through, so a PC may reboot on the DELTA 2. The Air’s 10ms is safer, as long as the PC and monitor draw under 500W.
Refill from solar, 500W of panels
Practically identical. CleanTechnica filled its DELTA 2 in 3 hours from solar in Southern California.
A 1,500W space heater on high
Beyond the Air’s 800W X-Boost. The DELTA 2 runs it for about half an hour: treat it as a bridge, or use the low setting.
Nine more differences, the spec sheet and the box
Smaller gaps that rarely decide the purchase, then the full specifications and what ships in the box.

App, UPS and smart features
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 1000 Air is the better UPS, at 10ms. The EcoFlow DELTA 2 answers with a battery port and 1,800W behind its EPS.
Same EcoFlow app over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.Green zone: a switch under about 16ms, which most desktop PCs ride through without restarting.
Does it handle unstable grid voltage? EcoFlow says the EcoFlow DELTA 3 1000 Air steadies fluctuating grid voltage and switches to its own supply when it detects instability; no such feature is listed for the EcoFlow DELTA 2.
Can you add a battery later? The EcoFlow DELTA 2 takes one DELTA 2 or DELTA Max extra battery. The EcoFlow DELTA 3 1000 Air takes none.
Does it work as a UPS? The EcoFlow DELTA 3 1000 Air switches to battery in 10ms, up to 500W. EcoFlow gives no switchover time for the EcoFlow DELTA 2; reviewers quote about 30ms for its EPS mode, fine for appliances, borderline for desktop PCs.
How does the app connect? Both use the EcoFlow app over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for monitoring and output control.
Warranty and support
EcoFlow’s US page listed 5 years for the EcoFlow DELTA 2 and 2 years for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 1000 Air. Neither is sold new by EcoFlow US; an existing unit keeps the term it was sold with.
Check the date on your original purchase.Subject to each brand’s warranty terms and eligibility.
EcoFlow rated the DELTA 2 at 3,000 cycles to 80%, about 8 years at one full cycle a day. For the DELTA 3 1000 Air it gives no cycle count, only 3,219.84kWh delivered over 10 years in its lab, roughly 3,350 full charges of 960Wh.
- If you own either one, keep your proof of purchase: the term runs from that date.
- Buying a leftover or used unit, ask the seller whether EcoFlow’s warranty still applies.
What reviewers report
We have not lab-tested these two units, and we found no independent test of the 1000 Air. Here is what 5 published reviews found, with the source, author and date for each point. Reviews of UK and EU units are flagged: those models charge from 230V outlets and have different sockets, so their charge times and outlet findings don’t carry over to US units.
DELTA 2: StorageReview (December 2022), CleanTechnica (October 2022), The Technology Man (UK unit), Trusted Reviews (December 2022, UK unit), SlashGear1000 Air: no verifiable independent test found

Practical limits before you buy
- EcoFlow US sells neither one. Its DELTA 2 page leads to the DELTA 3 and its 1000 Air page to the DELTA 3 Classic; check any seller’s warranty terms before buying a used or leftover unit.
- 500W is the Air’s hard limit. Microwaves, kettles, coffee makers, hair dryers and space heaters overload it.
- The Air has one AC outlet. Plan a power strip, and keep the total under 500W.
- About 30ms is borderline for desktop PCs. For a computer on the DELTA 2, test the switchover before you rely on it.
- X-Boost is for heating loads only. It lowers the voltage to keep a heating element running; motors and electronics need the rated 1,800W or 500W.
- Only the DELTA 2 has a 12V car socket, DC barrels and a battery port.
- Neither charges below freezing. Bring it indoors to charge in winter.
- DELTA 2 extra battery: only one DELTA 2 or DELTA Max Extra Battery fits, per EcoFlow.
