Anker and EcoFlow launched 5kWh home batteries four days apart: what $2,499 now buys for outages

Within four days this month, two of the biggest names in portable power announced 5kWh home batteries. Anker unveiled the SOLIX S5000 on October 9, and EcoFlow followed with its TITAN series on October 13. Both store about 5kWh, both expand to 30kWh, and both open at a launch price of $2,499.

That number matters for anyone planning for outages. It puts the entry price of a 5kWh home battery at roughly $500 per kWh, about 15% below the cheapest large stations you can buy today. But the two machines are built for very different homes, and the $2,499 does not buy the same thing from each brand.

The short version
  • Anker S5000 at $2,499: a 240V station on wheels, but only for people who signed up before October 26 and buy by November 8.
  • EcoFlow TITAN at $2,499: the Classic model, 120V only, built to stay indoors next to your panel.
  • Either way: 5kWh covers about 14 hours of essentials, not a whole house.

What Anker and EcoFlow announced

Anker’s SOLIX S5000 is a 5,024Wh LFP station on wheels: 4,500W of output at 120V and 240V, 97 lb, and up to five expansion batteries. Anker lists it at $3,599.99, with a $2,499 launch price for people who join its launch list by October 26 and order between October 27 and November 8, according to Anker’s terms.

EcoFlow’s TITAN is a floor-standing home battery with 5,017.6Wh per unit, made to feed your breaker panel through EcoFlow’s Smart Home Panel 10. It comes in three models, and EcoFlow lists launch prices from $2,499 for the TITAN 5000 Classic, $3,199 for the TITAN 5000 and $3,699 for the TITAN 5000 Plus. Orders open November 3, 2026.

Why $2,499 is a real drop

Price per kWh is the fairest way to compare batteries of different sizes. At $2,499 for about 5kWh, both launches land near $500 per kWh.

Price per kWh = price ÷ capacity in kWh$2,499 ÷ 5.0kWh ≈ $500 per kWh at both launch prices

For comparison, here is what the cheapest large stations cost per kWh at today’s live prices: the BLUETTI Apex 300 at $542 per kWh, the Jackery HomePower 3600 Pro Max at $502 per kWh and the Anker SOLIX F3800 at $599 per kWh. The two launches undercut them by roughly 15%.

The catch is the word “launch.” At its full list price, the S5000 works out to $717 per kWh, one of the most expensive in its class. EcoFlow has not yet published TITAN prices beyond the “from” figures, nor the price of its add-on batteries. Treat $500 per kWh as an entry price, not a new normal yet.

Same price, very different machines

At $2,499, the two brands give you opposite trade-offs.

Anker S5000 at $2,499

  • 240V through an L14-30R outlet, for a well pump or a dryer
  • Portable: 97 lb, wheels, no installer needed
  • Only for launch-list subscribers, with a deadline
  • Full price afterwards: $3,599.99

EcoFlow TITAN Classic at $2,499

  • 120V only: no central AC, no 240V well pump
  • Fixed: indoor install, best with the Smart Home Panel 10 and an electrician
  • Launch price for everyone, from November 3
  • For 240V, the TITAN 5000 starts at $3,199

In short: if you need 240V for $2,499, the S5000 launch window is the only way. If you want a battery wired into your panel and your home runs on 120V essentials, the TITAN Classic fits. Our Anker SOLIX S5000 review and EcoFlow TITAN review cover each one in detail.

What 5kWh actually gets you in an outage

A 5kWh battery holds about 4.3kWh of usable energy once conversion losses are counted. Here is what that means, by our estimates:

Essentials

About 14 hours for a fridge, freezer, internet, LED lights and a CPAP (about 7.3kWh a day).

Average U.S. home

About 3.5 hours at the EIA’s average of roughly 29.6kWh a day.

Central AC

About 1 hour of compressor time for a 3-ton unit, on the 240V models only.

That is why both brands sell expansion batteries up to 30kWh, and why solar matters for longer outages. To run your own list of appliances, use our power station runtime calculator.

Should you buy now or wait?

If you already own a power station that covers your essentials, there is no rush: neither battery ships before late October. If you are shopping for 240V home backup this winter, the dates matter:

  • October 26: last day to join Anker’s S5000 launch list for the $2,499 price.
  • October 27 to November 8: Anker’s launch window.
  • November 3: EcoFlow TITAN orders open, with final prices.

Both launches land just before Black Friday, so prices on older models may also move. The live prices below cover large stations you can buy today.
