The Classic is a finished product. The Max Plus is the start of a system.
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic stores 1,024Wh and delivers 1,800W from three outlets at 26.6 lb, with a 10ms UPS and a one-hour wall refill, but no 12V socket and no way to add a battery. The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus stores 2,048Wh and delivers 3,000W from four 20A outlets, adds a 30A Anderson port, 1,000W of solar and 2,600W generator charging, and grows to about 10kWh, at 48.7 lb. Prices sit $670 apart today. If 1kWh covers your evening and you never run 12V gear, the Classic is all you need; for a kitchen, a camper or a battery you’ll grow, the Max Plus.
Below: the differences with numbers, a 20-second calculator for your own gear, eight modeled situations, the cost of growing the Max Plus, a middle option, and what published tests found on each.
The Max Plus stores twice the energy, delivers 1,200W more, adds an Anderson port and a car socket, doubles the solar input and takes extra batteries. The Classic weighs 22.1 lb less and refills from the wall in about an hour. Prices sit $670 apart today.
- you carry it: 26.6 lb
- 1kWh is enough
- your loads stay under 1,800W
- you run 3,000W
- you’ll grow to 10kWh
- you need 12V or an Anderson port
The five differences that decide it
Both use LFP cells, the EcoFlow app over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, Storm Guard, X-Boost for heating loads, a 10ms UPS and 1,800W or less of wall charging on a standard outlet, and the same warranty. These five gaps decide it.
Will it run your setup? Check in 20 seconds
Estimates use 85% usable capacity and 70% of rated solar output. Real results vary with temperature, inverter load, shade and appliance cycling. Fridge and freezer watts are daily averages and do not include compressor startup surges.
Runtime by appliance, one at a time
Simple energy estimates, not measured runtimes. About 870Wh usable on the Classic and 1,741Wh on the Max Plus; StorageReview measured 1.64kWh out of a Max Plus.
Appliance for appliance, the Max Plus lasts twice as long as the Classic.

The price gap, in numbers
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus costs $670 more than the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic and adds 1,024Wh: that is $0.65 per extra Wh, against $0.47 per Wh for the Classic.
Prices refresh daily from EcoFlow US.What the $670 buys: twice the battery (2,048Wh vs 1,024Wh), 3,000W instead of 1,800W, 12V outputs and room for extra batteries.
Two DELTA 3 Classics (2 × 1,024Wh) costs $191 less today.
Two Classics give you 2kWh in two 26.6 lb boxes, but each stays at 1,800W and neither can grow. The Max Plus takes up to two Max Plus extra batteries, the second through EcoFlow’s Expansion Adapter. EcoFlow US prices move often; the figures here are refreshed daily by our price engine.
The third option: the DELTA 3 Plus at $719
EcoFlow DELTA 3 Plus: $719 today
1kWh that can grow: 1,024Wh and 1,800W from six outlets, a 12V car socket and two DC5521 barrels, 1,000W of solar, a 56-minute wall refill, an IP65 battery pack and extra batteries up to about 5kWh, at 27.6 lb, with a 5-year warranty and no registration condition. It weighs a pound more than the Classic and keeps the Max Plus’s solar input. Our DELTA 3 Plus review goes deeper. See the DELTA 3 Plus at EcoFlow.
Eight modeled situations, worked out
Same formula as the calculator above: 85% of the rated capacity, no extra battery. The fridge averages 60W, about 525kWh a year.
24-hour outage, essentials only
The Classic gets you through the evening and the night; the Max Plus most of a day, or about 38 hours with one extra battery.
A full-size fridge, nothing else
About 14 hours on the Classic and 29 on the Max Plus.
Microwave and coffee maker at once
Only the Max Plus runs both. On the Classic, one at a time: X-Boost helps heating loads, not a microwave’s electronics.
CPAP, every night
Two to three nights on the Classic, five on the Max Plus.
A 12V compressor fridge in a camper
The Max Plus feeds a 12V fridge straight from its car socket or Anderson port. The Classic has no 12V output, so the fridge runs from an AC outlet through its own adapter, with the inverter on all day.
Refill from solar, each at its maximum
The same time, because the Max Plus takes twice the panels for twice the battery. EcoFlow says the Classic fills in about 2.5 hours at 500W.
Refill from the wall before a storm
Both reach 80% in about an hour; the Classic is full in about 60 minutes.
Moving it
The Classic is a one-hand carry. The Max Plus is a two-handed lift for one person.

09 · NoiseNoise and heat: Classic vs Max Plus
Both are rated quiet: EcoFlow gives 30dB or less at 600W for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic and 25dB or less for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus. The Technology Man found the Max Plus barely above room noise while charging at full power.
EcoFlow’s figures. Reviewers gave no dB values.Every figure we found, with its source
What reviewers heard: During a high-load grill test, battery temperature in the app climbed from 35 to 53°C, with audible fans (Basic Tutorials, EU unit).
What reviewers heard: Barely registered above room noise at 1 m while charging at full power, with exhaust just over 40°C (The Technology Man, UK unit); fans almost never came on with a home office load (T3).
Measured by a tester Brand figure
- The fans run hardest while fast charging, so lower the charging speed in the app at night.
Cold and heat: Classic vs Max Plus
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic and the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus share the same limits: charging from 32°F to 113°F, running from 14°F to 113°F. Neither carries a water rating.
Figures from the EcoFlow US product pages for both models.- Charge either one indoors in winter: neither charges below 32°F.
- Run it between 68°F and 86°F when you can: EcoFlow’s optimal operating range.
App, UPS and smart features
The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus does more: extra batteries, Smart Output Priority and a 2,600W Smart Generator link. The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic matches it on the app, Storm Guard and the 10ms UPS.
Same app and UPS. The gap is expansion and generator features.Green zone: a switch under about 16ms, which most desktop PCs ride through without restarting.
Can you add a battery later? The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus takes up to two Max Plus extra batteries, toward about 10kWh; the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic has no extra battery port.
Can it work with a Smart Generator? The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus charges from an EcoFlow Smart Generator at up to 2,600W. EcoFlow says the Smart Generator 3000’s automatic start-stop doesn’t work with the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic.
Can it keep only the essentials running? The EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus lets you choose which outlets stay powered; EcoFlow lists no such feature for the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic.
Does it work as a UPS? Both switch in 10ms; StorageReview measured 8ms on the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus.
Does it prepare for storms? Both charge ahead of severe weather once Storm Guard is turned on in the EcoFlow app.
Can it charge off-peak? Both charge off-peak and discharge at peak rates with Self-Powered Mode and Scheduled Tasks.
How does the app connect? Both use the EcoFlow app over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with the OASIS dashboard.
Warranty and support
EcoFlow gives the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Classic and the EcoFlow DELTA 3 Max Plus the same deal: 3 years, plus 2 more once registered in the EcoFlow app.
Same 5 years at best on both, if you register on day one.Subject to each brand’s warranty terms and eligibility.
EcoFlow publishes no cycle count for either on its US pages: it quotes 10 years of reliable power for the Classic and about 10 years of use for the Max Plus. Calendar aging and heat also reduce capacity.
- Register whichever you choose in the EcoFlow app the day it arrives: without registration, the warranty stops at 3 years.
What reviewers report
We have not lab-tested these two units. Here is what 6 published reviews found, with the source, author and date for each point. Reviews of UK and EU units are flagged: those models charge from 230V outlets and have different sockets, so their charge times and outlet findings don’t carry over to US units.
